Single Hung Windows

The single hung window, often referred to as a sash window, is easy to slide up and a standard choice for modern home construction.

In the single hung window, the bottom sash moves up to open and allow in air flow. The top sash is fixed. Since it opens and closes without protuding, single-hung windows are an excellent choice for rooms facing walkways, porches or patios.

Single Hung Windows is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 113.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nearly 100% Failure Rate at 14 years At 14 years, almost all of the 37 Milgard windows in my home have fogging and/or streaking between the panes of glass. It looks horrible. Many of the windows do not open/close easily at all. One of the windows spontaneously broke. The warranty is worthless. My neighbor has the same age home and Milgard windows and the same problem with his windows. People should really know about this. If you are considering Milgard windows and live near Denver, please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to show you my windows, as will my neighbor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the windows and the warranty. I just got my windows, I have done a lot of homework and looking for a good Milgard dealer. I got a quote from several dealer's. The most important part to me is finding a good window is the Warranty, and craftsmanship, Nice looking windows, quality of the windows to reduce the UV, and Solar factors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent heat and cold blocking I love these windows. They are easy to open and close with one hand and without alot of back involvement, which is huge for me. They keep heat and cold from transferring, as well as some of the street noise. We got the double glazed and they provide some privacy as well as reduction in glare. They work much better than I thought actually. The ONLY thing I wish I knew about them is that they don't have a nighttime lock. In other words, of course they lock in the closed position, but if I want to have a bit of breeze coming in and want it locked in that position for safety from burglars, I will have to get locks from a hardware store and install them myself. That only applies to two windows anyway so I think it will be ok. Still, I'm glad I got them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZINGING EASY TO USE AND MAINTAIN These 20 window replaced 20 old wood broken windows in a victorian. they look like a proper 1900's window and the warmth factor is amazing. i am sure the electric and gas bill will be reduced greatly by the efficiancy of these double pane windows. The ease of maintenance from the upper story will save moving ladders around the outside of the house. overall a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built, nice appearance The first day the windows were installed we noticed a big difference in the noise penetrating the house from the roadway behind our house. It was reduced very dramatically. They are nicely built and smooth to operate. I expect them to help in lowering my cooling costs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good, but be prepared to wait for warranty repairs We replaced all 18 Windows in our house about 13 years ago. Price was fair and recommended by a friend. One window broke internally after about 5 years. They came out and fixed it in 2 weeks. In March one of the Windows leaked all the nitrogen and fogged between the panes. Called for warranty, got bounced around. They asked for serial number but it wasn't really readable. It was poorly stamped. Took picture and measurements. They said soonest would be June 5th to install it. They called me the week before to say he will be here between 11 and 1. Took off work and they never showed. Called at 1:30 to ask what to do. They transferred me and I was asked if someone called me to say the part was backordered. No call ever received for cancellation. They didn't really care and said they would be here June 19th and will call again with time frame. Service really sucks for warranty repairs. Wouldn't recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality product lacked quality control Window has great features like the locking mechanism and the low E glass. The lifetime warranty is its biggest plus. Very disappointed in the attention to detail. Screen was sent with a spring missing and the Vinyl seems seemed very sloppy. Overall I still would buy Milgard because of their proven customer service and overall quality. I just expected more pride in their work and better quality control.
