Picture Windows

Open up your living space with a picture window, allowing light and views of the outdoors into your home.

operating_picture.jpg

Picture windows are fixed windows that do not open. They are usually installed in difficult to reach places to let in light. For unobstructed views where ventilation is not a concern, picture windows are ideal. Picture windows create a portrait-like space on walls - hence the word "picture" in their name. Picture windows are also a popular choice for letting in natural light without cold air in areas of a room that may be most susceptible to drafts.

In picture windows, insulated glass is a great option for added performance and increased comfort in the home. Insulated glass is a combination of two or more panes of glass with a hermetically sealed air space between them. Optional inert gases like argon or krypton may be used between panes to further improve thermal performance and energy savings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Significantly Reducing Traffic Noise Just had Quiet Line window installed in our bedroom that faces busy road in The Woodlands, TX. Window significantly reduced the noise, enough that I no Ionger have to run sound machine or house fan to block the noise and can sleep soundly. Very happy with window. I was concerned about how double, double pane window would look, but it looks fantastic. I looked for several years for the best solution for the traffic noise and glad I picked Milgard. Added bonus was that even though we had to resize window opening to be able to use Quiet Line window, it was still priced better than other options we looked at. Authorized Milgard dealer in Houston we used did fantastic job too of installing. Only wish was that Quiet Line windows were made in larger sizes and different shapes so we could replace all our windows with these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low E & Bronze Tinted with argon The combination of the Low E & Bronze Tinting, along with argon gas seal is a great climate and shading effect in hot and sunny Arizona. We were concerned that they are all vinyl rather than just "vinyl clad" as to strength and durability (thinking vinyl might break easily with any single hung windows). However, I think the quality of the vinyl material looks strong and viable. Time will tell, but we had other framing material windows in our previous home, BUT also all Milgard and they were great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tan Windows fade to PINK - Milgard won't do anything about it - Outside or my house looks terrible I purchased a house that was built in 2009 with Milgard windows. The home is beautiful with a full stone exterior and once 'tan' windows. The windows now have all faded from the sun so badly that they are PINK and deteriorating. After having half of the main floor glass replaced (on an 8000 square foot house) due to failed seals, I started to notice that the exterior window frames had faded. They got worse and worse so I contacted customer service again. They sent someone out to look at the windows about 4 months after my initial request. Then, 4 months later, I got a call from someone saying that they would do nothing about the windows because the fading was normal and the home was 'nearly 10 years old.' This was a huge disappointment. I can't imagine how a company could make 'windows', sell them in particular colors, and not expect the color to stay close to the same color. I've ready so many reviews about these windows and fading. Not quite sure what to do because the rest of my home is immaculate. I would think twice about purchasing these windows. There are too many other, better, options. Options that won't fade to a terrible pink and companies that stand behind their products. Would never buy another product from Milgard again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great noise reduction We had every window in our house replaced and noticed immediate noise reduction as well as the temperature being more steady. We are very pleased with the product and the installer(Norther Glass Co in Redwood City Ca.) did an awesome job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Windows, Misguiding Salesman We just purchased three Milgard Tuscany Series windows: two double hung, and one picture window. I’m very pleased with the quality of the windows. They look attractive, and I love the child-proof features. The issue is working with our existing blinds. About a year ago we purchased nice, high-quality roller shades for the three windows. When the Home Depot Salesman was at our home I pointed out the new shades and asked him if I should have them taken down prior to installation. He said “no” and that the installers would do it. Come installation day, the window installers could not easily remove the shades and informed me that though sometimes they will remove standard blinds, it is policy that the customer have it taken care of. The installation date had to be rescheduled, but luckily the installers had availability two days later, and I was able to get the blinds company to come out before then. (the installers did great) Now the issue is getting the shades back up. Our old windows were an inch in depth. The new windows are 3”, not leaving enough space for the mounting hardware for the roller shades. The blinds company will be coming back out in a few days. I hope they are able to find a way to put up our nice, expensive window shades. Had the salesman been properly trained, paid attention to detail, and had the customer’s best interest in mind none of this would have happened. Had I been properly informed, I would have looked into the windows space compatibility and may have chosen a different style for the space. I would have gladly had the shades removed prior to installation. I’m glad I like our new windows, because this has taken so much of my time and energy. The windows are great, stunning, and high quality. I hope Milgard will hold its dealers and salesmen to the same standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great curb appeal. In less than one hour of insulation of the front windows my house came to life. I now have great curb appeal. Three my Neighbors wished they had bought Millard. I've convinced my neighbor next door to contact my Millard dealer. I'm so,proud to call this my new home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made a big difference of appearence and insulation After install of three windows we were able to see and feel the difference between our old windows and the new Milgard suncoatmax windows, definitely looking forward to replacing more of our windows with this product in the near future. Added curb appeal to our home and provides a better insulation factor plus now we can let our shades down all the way and not have condensation accumulate on the inside of the glass. Thank you Milgard

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complete KNOCK OUT for noise abatement! We live on a terribly busy street, and the back portion of the house is inundated with road noise. We've been very frustrated since we've moved in and have spent over a year researching and shopping different window solutions specifically designed for noise abatement. I considered several alternate product solutions, and finally converged with Milgard. The windows are incredibly Stout and heavy, so much so that the installer had great difficulty getting them in on the second story. However, the end result is completely amazing. I've got both the double hung & picture windows installed now... and I can sit here watching the cars roar by in a nearly dead-slilent room. This purchase has completely transformed our home. We couldn't be happier! If you are on the fence, and are concerned about the price.... I believe that Milgard quiet line has the very best VALUE on the market for residential windows designed for noise abatement. I looked at no less than 20 different competing window designs, and have no doubt that I picked the best one to meet our needs!
