How Windows are Designed, Tested, and Rated for Comfort and Energy Efficiency

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, buildings consume 40 percent of all the energy used nationwide.  Achieving optimal energy efficiency in buildings can drastically reduce overall energy consumption, and windows can play a key role in achieving improved performance. In the course, we discuss high performance window technologies as well as introduce the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) program and discuss how it helps window manufacturers meet building energy code requirements.

After completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Describe how sustainable building products can satisfy Universal Design strategies.
  • Describe how building form and energy modeling create a more sustainable environment.
  • Describe how windows can contribute toward points in the LEED for Homes credit categories.
