Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful quality! Very happy with the look and feel of the Ultra French Doors. We were able to get a custom size and love the hardware we chose. The style blends nicely with the rest of the house. Handle lock is a little tricky, but we're already getting used to it. Glad we made the decision to go with Milgard once again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Form follows function Wonderful quality door, but that's not why I bought it....I bought it because of Milgard's reputation for service after the sale.....Beautifully balanced swing on each door. quality materials-stainless steel hinges and door handle...about the handle-it's a 5point locking mechanism which I appreciate for it's superior locking/security- and you need it in a french door....the door was factory painted-and the finish is indeed superb.... I had a problem with that door lock -it closed with difficulty after 6 months, so I called Milgard and they had a tech out quickly...he was professional, efficient and fixedthe issue.... I wish Milgard made single doors-they don't....the door is very expensive, but you do indeed get what you pay for when it comes to doors....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Door Lock Out of Alignment The French doors look good, however, the locking bolt, on the passive door, doesn't align with the socket that it is supposed to go into. We have to apply a lot of inward pressure to get the bolt to line up. Something that my wife is not strong enough to do when I'm not around. We have a service call out on this. But to have this issue "right out of the box" makes me wonder about their quality control process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love these doors We replaced 2 sliding doosr with out swing french doors. We love the look of these doors and feel the value was well worth it. Our concerns: The glass is very difficult to clean. When the sun hits the glass you see every flaw. It is hard to tell but possibly the interior of the double pain is not clean. Therefore, difficult to have clean glass. The other issue is the lock feature. It has a several point "lock" feature. It seems backwards. There should be a several point "unlock" feature. Once they were in our 2 year old grandson walked over and simply opened the door. He could never lock it, but easily open it. We had to find third party child proofing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product seemed far superior to other products we researched Our French doors have just been installed so we have not had much experience with them. So far, the installation was extremely professional and great care was taken to insure that all furniture and paintings were covered. We really like the Essence series and could not be happier. There are a couple of things we wish were different, such as the choice of color for the aluminum covered ledges. We have black which we plan to paint on the interior. The one set of doors that are operable open out and the hardware is white instead of the color of the clad door. Thus, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The product has been a fiasco I bought Milgard because I was told it was the best. To my surprise it has been a total mess. Prior to the doors being installed I called to say there were problems such as doors not opening correctly. Screen doors wouldn't shut at all. I was told to install the doors and then Milgard would take care of the problem. The paint on the exterior is horrible, the hinges don't match the handles, the fir on the inside has blemishes and the door does not fit the jam. Service came out and worked to get the doors to lock. That lasted one day and they would not shut properly again. Then the door handles fell off when we just pulled the doors closed. Service again came out and adjusted the doors and fixed the handles. The screen doors were taken because they would not close. It took 8 weeks to get the doors and now I have been told it will take 8 more weeks to replace the doors and panels. I could go on but I think you get the point. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking doors We are very pleased with our doors and ease of use. The side vented windows are wonderful to get fresh air without having to open doors to outside. Really enjoy our choice, even though we ended up spending a little more than we had planned, it was worth it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor customer service I recently had these French doors installed. Shortly after installation, the doors began to rub each other towards the top of the doors. Each time the doors were opened or closed, this caused scratches and now gouges in the vinyl. Also, the door handle became difficult to operate. To open or lock the door, the handle has to be rotated about 45-degrees. Recently, the handle is sticking and can not be rotated (opened or locked) without putting a lot of pressure on the door. My wife and kids can no longer open or lock the door because it is so difficult. I called customer service to schedule a service appointment. I received a call back and told that they had scheduled my appointment on a Tuesday five weeks away, with the technician arriving between 8 and noon. Well, I explained that I have to work and can not take a day off work for maintenance on my new door. I learned that the technician is only available in my area (north Los Angeles County) on Tuesdays only. I requested to speak to a manager, who was not available. I was told I would get a call back, but never did. After 3 weeks and more scraping and heartache with the door, I called Milgard since they did not call me back. Again, the supervisor was not available and I could not schedule a weekend appointment. As of now, I am still waiting for a call back. I would not recommend this product since they can not back their "lifetime warranty"... except on Tuesday more than a month from now.
